Breast Ultrasound Scan

At ULTRAM we deliver private breast ultrasounds in London, to help identify and detect breast abnormalities early. Breast cancer is the most common cancer in the UK and is more likely amongst those in older age brackets, with the majority who have this cancer being over the age of 50. By detecting breast disease early, the likelihood of needing a mastectomy is far less and the survival rate is much higher.

Breast health is an essential aspect of women’s health, particularly when it comes to fertility. At ULTRAM, we offer private breast ultrasound scans to help detect and identify any breast abnormalities early on. It is recommended to have a breast scan before undergoing hormonal treatment for fertility to ensure any breast abnormalities are detected before treatment.

  • Can Breast Scan detect all abnormalities?

Breast ultrasound will check for both solid and cystic tumors. It is always important to keep in mind that in specific circumstances, breast ultrasound scans will necessitate other imaging modalities including mammogram or MRI to safely exclude abnormalities.

  • What are the reasons for Breast Scan?

    • A palpable lump in the breast or axillary regions
    • Pregnant women with a palpable lump in the breast
    • A suspicious breast anomaly was found during a mammography.
    • Assessment of breast implant
    • Axillary lymphadenopathy
    • Nipple discharge
    • Breast pain
  • What are the preparations for Breast Scan?

When interpreting your current ultrasound, the clinician should have access to any prior ultrasounds or mammograms for comparison. On the day of your exam, please bring your previous reports with you. It is preferable to wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing or clothing that is simple to remove.

  • How is this scan performed?

You will be instructed to lie on your back with your arm lifted over your head. To ensure that the transducer makes firm contact with the body, a transparent gel is applied to the area of the body being investigated. The transducer is then placed against the skin and moved back and forth across the target area until the desired images are obtained.

  • Is Breast Scan safe?

Since there is no radiation involved, ultrasound is a safe and painless imaging modality with no known adverse effects. This check-up is also safe to carry out while pregnant or breastfeeding.

  • What is the price for Breast Scan?
